Retired Science Teacher for Research

**This is a salaried, work\-from\-home position.** There is also a performance bonus, but no commissions or piecework. Our administration is in NY but you can live anywhere in the continental US. **Hours can be somewhat flexible, but this is strictly a full\-time position.** We strongly prefer a retired science teacher (or similar person with a broad science background and life experience) seeking challenging and intellectually stimulating work, who already has a pension and health benefits, and wants a new steady income stream. We are looking for someone who knows a bit about everything and who is excited to explore many substantive fields. Cahn Litigation Services provides expert witnesses and other technical resources to attorneys in support of their cases. The subject matters of these cases vary widely, and often involve niche aspects of science and technology. Cahn locates and corresponds with experts in these fields to discuss their ability to consult with attorneys on these matters. Then, Cahn facilitates interviews between attorneys and experts in anticipation of engagement. Within this context, the job role consists of three major functions: * 1\. Research and Correspondence: The chosen candidate will use various research tools to locate potential experts and correspond with them to assess their abilities to consult in the matter at hand. A review of related biographical materials and processing the same for attorney consumption will follow. * 2\. Drafting: The chosen candidate will write attorney\-facing synopses related to expert witness biographies, various substantive fields, and Cahn’s ability to provide experts in support of associated cases. * 3\. Communicating: The chosen candidate will schedule and conduct audio/video interviews between the law firm customers and the candidates to provide a setting in which the customer can make an informed decision. There is likely to be some back\-and\-forth between all parties to confirm schedules and conduct the interviews. **Requirements:** * A serious applicant will need a quiet place to work, good organizational skills, the ability to work on multiple projects at once, good detail orientation, good communications / telephone / people skills, good reading and writing skills, and good computer skills (MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe Acrobat Pro or similar, and general Windows OS).
